Download your data or delete your store
Both are at the bottom of Settings → Store details.
Download your data
Your store’s data is yours. You can take a full copy at any time: products, variants, stock, collections, orders, customers, discounts, gift cards, pages, blog posts, menus, settings and the rest.
Start the export
In Settings → Store details, under Download your data, press Export all data. You can keep working; the file is prepared in the background. A small store takes a few seconds, a large one a few minutes.
Download the file
When the export shows Ready, press Download. You get one zip file named after your store and the date.
What is in the zip:
store.json: your store’s own settings.tables/…ndjson: one file per kind of record (product.ndjson,order.ndjson,customer.ndjsonand so on), one record per line. Open them in a text editor, or load them in a spreadsheet or database tool that reads “JSON lines”.manifest.json: how many records each file has, and when the export was made.
What is not in the zip:
- Photos, videos and invoice PDFs. Each one is listed with its web address (in
media.ndjsonand the invoice records), so you can download them separately. - Passwords, payment and courier keys, gift card codes and sign-in codes. These show as
[encrypted]or[redacted]. Customer phone numbers are included, readable.
Each file can be downloaded for 7 days, then it is removed. Make a new export whenever you need a fresh copy.
Exporting needs the Manage settings permission. The store owner and admins have it.
Delete your store
Deleting your store closes it for good:
- your website goes offline;
- every product, order, customer, photo, page, discount and setting is deleted;
- your staff lose access.
This cannot be undone. Download your data first if you may need it later, for example for your accounts or GST records.
Open the danger zone
At the very bottom of Settings → Store details, under Delete store, press Delete store. Only the store owner can do this; for anyone else the button is greyed out.
Type the store name
The box asks you to type your store’s name exactly as shown (capital letters do not matter). This makes sure nobody deletes the wrong store by accident.
Confirm
Press Delete store. When it is done you go back to the admin home, where you can pick another store you belong to or create a new one.
Your sign-in account itself is not deleted, only the store. If the deletion fails part way, nothing is deleted and you can try again.
