Analytics
Analytics answers “how is the store doing?” in four places: the overview page, Reports, Live view, and the Visitors section when you connect Umami.
What this is for
- Checking this week’s sales against last week’s.
- Finding which products, states and payment methods earn the most.
- Watching the store live during a sale.
- Seeing how many visitors turn into orders.
The overview
Where to find it: Analytics in the sidebar. What to do: pick a date range at the top (Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days or Custom). What you’ll see:
- Five tiles: Sessions, Revenue, Conversion rate, Average order value and Returning customers. Each shows how it changed against the period before (vs previous period). Revenue includes tax and shipping; cancelled orders and drafts are left out.
- Sales over time, by day or by week, with the total and your best day. Export saves it as a CSV file.
- Top products, Sales by state, Payment methods, and From visit to order: how many sessions turned into carts, checkouts and orders.
- Visitors, once you connect Umami. See Visitor analytics.
Sessions and the visit-to-order steps come from your own storefront, so they fill in as the store gets traffic.
Reports
Analytics → Reports has ready-made reports in groups: Sales, Finance, Orders, Shipping and delivery, Returns, Customers, Inventory and Marketing. Type in the box at the top to find a report by name. Asking questions in plain words is coming soon.
Open a report and you’ll see:
- What I understood: the date range and, if you like, a Compare period. Change them there.
- A chart, with a Bar or Line switch.
- A Details table with totals. Export CSV saves it.
Stock reports show stock as it stands right now, so the date range does not apply to them. The Finance group has Profit by month and Profit by product; see Profit.
Live view
The full-page globe is covered in Live view.
Visitors
With the Umami app connected, the overview ends with a Visitors section: visitors, visits, page views, top pages, where people came from, campaigns, countries and devices. It counts a visitor only after they allow analytics on your cookie banner, unless you turn that off. Set it up in Visitor analytics (Umami).
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Sessions are zero | The store is new, or has no visitors yet. | Give it a few days of traffic. |
| Numbers differ from your payment dashboard | Analytics leaves out drafts and cancelled orders, and counts tax and shipping. | Compare the same date range and the same kind of orders. |
| Visitors is missing | The Umami app is not installed or not connected. | Follow Visitor analytics (Umami). |
| The Live view globe is empty | No order has a shipping address in the last 24 hours. | Orders appear as soon as one does. |
