Cashfree

Cashfree is a payment company, like Razorpay. It takes the money from the shopper (UPI, cards, netbanking, wallets, pay later) and sends it to your bank account. Connect it from Settings → Payments or from Apps → Cashfree → Connect.

What this is for

  • Taking online payments if you already have a Cashfree account, or prefer their rates.
  • Switching between Razorpay and Cashfree without losing either set of keys.

Connect Cashfree

Pick Test or Live

Test uses Cashfree’s sandbox: nothing real is charged. Live takes real money. Your Test and Live keys are different; use the ones that match.

Copy your keys

In the Cashfree dashboard, open Payment Gateway, then Developers → API Keys. Copy the App ID and the Secret Key into the Connect page.

Nothing else to set up

We tell Cashfree where to send payment updates with every order, so there is no webhook to add in the Cashfree dashboard.

Test and save

Press Test connection (it only checks the keys; nothing is charged or created), then Save and connect. Cashfree becomes your Main way to get paid on Settings → Payments.

Tip. After connecting, press Place a test order on Settings → Payments and pay ₹1 in Test mode to see the whole flow end to end.

How it works

The shopper pays in Cashfree’s window on your checkout. Only the ways to pay you switched on under Shoppers can pay with are offered. Cashfree then tells your store the result (signed, and checked before we trust it), and the order is marked Paid. If that update is late, we also ask Cashfree directly.

Refunds you start from an order go back through Cashfree, and the order shows the refund as soon as Cashfree confirms it.

Pay in parts (EMI and pay later)

Turn on EMI under Shoppers can pay with on Settings → Payments. Cashfree’s window then offers card EMI, cardless EMI and pay later, where your Cashfree account has them. To show “or ₹X/month” under your product prices, add the EMI & pay later app and pick Cashfree.

Try it before going live

  1. In Cashfree, switch the dashboard to Test and copy the Test App ID and Secret Key.
  2. On the Connect page pick Test, paste both, press Test connection, then save.
  3. Place an order on your shop and pay with Cashfree’s test UPI id or test card (Cashfree lists them in its dashboard). Nothing real is charged.
  4. When you’re ready, come back, pick Live and paste your Live keys.
