Google Search Console

The Google Search Console app shows how shoppers find your store on Google: what they searched for, which of your pages Google showed, how many people clicked, and where your pages rank. It also points out the quickest wins: pages just off the first page of Google, and pages or searches that are losing clicks.

Search Console  is Google’s free tool for website owners. This app reads your numbers from it; it never changes anything in your Google account except sending your sitemap when you ask.

What you need

  • A Google account that has your store in Search Console, as a verified property. A domain property (it looks like sc-domain:yourstore.in) is best: it counts www, no www, http and https together.
  • Not set up yet? In Search Console click Add property, choose Domain, type your store’s domain and follow Google’s steps to verify it (a TXT record at your domain provider).

Connect it

  1. Go to Apps, find Google Search Console under Connections and click Install.
  2. Open Apps → Google Search Console → Settings.
  3. Click Connect Google Search Console and sign in with your Google account. Allow Search Console access when Google asks.
  4. Back on Settings, pick your property. The one that matches your store’s domain is marked Matches your store. Click Use this property.

Your numbers arrive within a minute. After that they update by themselves once a day.

What you see

All numbers are for the last 28 days Google has final numbers for, compared with the 28 days before. Google’s numbers trail by about three days.

  • Overview: clicks, how often Google showed your store (views), click rate and average position, with the change since the 28 days before. Below: top searches, top pages, devices and countries.
  • Top searches: what people typed on Google before they saw your store.
  • Top pages: your products, collections and pages on Google. Click a name to edit it.
  • Almost page 1: pages Google shows at position 8 to 20, just off the first page, at least 100 times. A sharper search title and description, and a little more text, can move them up. Improve opens the product’s SEO tab.
  • Losing traffic: pages and searches with fewer clicks than before, biggest drop first.
  • Sitemaps: the sitemaps Google knows for your property, whether it read them, and Submit to Google for your store’s own sitemap (/sitemap.xml: every live product, collection and page).

Refresh now gets fresh numbers straight away. You can use it once every 15 minutes.

On your products and the SEO report

  • Each product’s SEO tab gets a Google search card: the product’s clicks, views, click rate and position, and the searches that found it.
  • Online store → SEO adds two kinds of issue: products and pages Google shows often that get few clicks, and ones almost on page 1. They do not lower your SEO score; they are chances to win more clicks. Fix with AI can rewrite their search titles and descriptions.

Disconnect

Settings → Disconnect removes the connection at Google and deletes the Google numbers from your store. Search Console itself keeps everything; connect again any time.

If something is wrong

  • “Google no longer accepts this connection”: someone removed the access in your Google account, or changed the password. Click Connect again on Settings.
  • No properties listed: this Google account has no Search Console properties. Add and verify your domain in Search Console, or connect with the account that has it.
  • “Not verified” next to a property: Google gives no numbers for it until you verify it.
  • No numbers yet: a new property can take a few days to collect data in Search Console.
  • Not available yet: your platform has not set up its Google connection; ask your platform admin.
