Markets

Go to Markets in the sidebar. A market groups countries that shop in one currency and language, like dirhams for the Gulf. Shoppers there see your prices converted, on an address of their own such as yourshop.com/ae.

India is your primary market. Its country and its currency, the rupee, stay fixed: your prices, GST and reports are kept in them. You can rename it and choose its languages.

Add a market

  1. Go to Markets and click Add market.
  2. Give it a name and pick its Countries. A country can be in one market only; the region buttons (European Union, Gulf, North America, Australia and NZ) add a group at once.
  3. Pick the Currency. Prices are converted from rupees, then shown and charged in it.
  4. Pick a Default language and any More languages shoppers can switch to. Text you have not translated shows in the default language.
  5. Choose How shoppers reach it:
    • A subfolder of your address, like /ae or /en-us.
    • Its own domain, one you connected in Settings → Domains, like yourshop.ae.
    • Shopper’s choice: no address of its own; shoppers pick it in the country selector.
  6. Under Prices, set a Price adjustment (a percent, -50 to 200), the Rounding, and optionally a Fixed exchange rate (leave it empty for the daily reference rate).
  7. Choose who pays Import duties: the buyer on delivery, or collected at checkout.

Turn a market on or off, or delete it

The On switch shows or hides a market from shoppers. Deleting a market sends its countries back to your primary market. If it already has orders, it is turned off instead, so those orders keep it.

Suggest the visitor’s market

With more than one market on, a visitor whose country belongs to another market sees a small card on the online store, for example “Shopping from United Arab Emirates?” with Shop in AED and Stay in INR. Shop in opens the same page in their market; Stay keeps the one shown. Either answer is remembered, so the card does not come back, and a shopper who already picked a country in the country selector never sees it.

The store never switches market by itself: search engines and shared caches keep seeing the page they asked for. The card is not shown on checkout or account pages, in the theme editor or a theme preview, or to search engine bots.

It is on by default. To turn it off, go to Markets and switch off Suggest the visitor’s market in the Visitors from other countries card.

Who can use it

Markets follow the Settings permission: Settings: read to see them, Settings: manage to add, change and delete them.

To schedule a new theme, checkout look or discounts, see Rollouts.
