Glossary
The words you’ll see in your admin, courier dashboards and GST paperwork, in plain words, with where each one shows up in Waimers.
Shipping
AWB
Air waybill: the courier’s tracking number for one parcel, printed on the shipping label. Every booked shipment gets one. In Waimers it’s the Waybill column in Orders → Shipments, and AWB on the order’s shipping panel.
NDR
Non-delivery report: the courier tried to deliver and couldn’t (shopper not home, phone off, address incomplete). You decide what happens next under Delivery problems: Try delivery again, Use a new address or Send it back (RTO). See Shipments.
RTO
Return to origin: the parcel is sent back to your pickup address instead of the shopper. Shows as Returning to you on the shipment. If every parcel on an order comes back, the order’s Fulfilment becomes Returned. Couriers usually charge for RTO, so fix NDRs quickly.
Pickup and manifest
A pickup is a request for the courier to collect parcels from you on a date and time. A manifest is the one-page list of parcels in that pickup, signed by the delivery person.
Parcel
One part of an order that is packed and sent from one place. Most orders are a single parcel. When your stock is in more than one warehouse, an order can split into parcels, each with its own GST invoice and courier booking. The shopper still has one order. See Several warehouses and GST.
Tax
GSTIN
GST identification number: your 15-character GST registration, for example
27AAPFU0939F1ZV. The first two digits are your state code (27 is Maharashtra). Enter it in
Settings → GST & invoices and in the GST invoices app’s Business details. A B2B buyer’s GSTIN
goes on their invoice as Buyer GSTIN.
HSN
Harmonised System of Nomenclature: the code that says what kind of goods something is, which
decides its GST rate. Cotton T-shirts are 6109, for example. In Waimers it’s the product’s
HS (harmonised system) code on the Shipping card, and it prints on every invoice line.
CGST, SGST and IGST
The parts GST is split into. Selling within your own state: half CGST (central) and half SGST (state). Selling to another state: all IGST (integrated). Waimers picks the split from your state and the shipping state.
GSTR-1
The monthly (or quarterly) GST return listing your sales. Export it from Apps → GST invoices → Returns → Export GSTR-1 and give it to your CA.
Credit note
A GST document that reduces an earlier invoice, issued when you refund. Waimers issues one automatically for refunds on invoiced orders.
Payments
COD
Cash on delivery: the shopper pays the delivery person. COD orders are never auto-cancelled for being unpaid. You can add a handling fee in Settings → Payments.
UPI
Unified Payments Interface: India’s instant bank-to-bank payments (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM). Waimers takes UPI three ways: through Razorpay checkout, as a single-use QR that confirms itself (UPI — confirmed automatically), or straight to your UPI ID, which you confirm by hand (UPI to your own ID — you confirm it).
Webhook
A message a service (like Razorpay) sends to your store the moment something happens, such as “payment captured”. It’s how orders mark themselves paid without you checking.
Pre-order
Selling a product before it’s in stock, with an expected ship date. Set it up under Pre-order & launch on the product.
Balance due
On a pre-order paid with a deposit, the part still to be paid. Say ₹500 deposit on ₹3,000: ₹2,500 is the balance due. You can’t ship the order until it’s collected.
Refund needed
A payment arrived that the order can’t keep (it was cancelled first, or paid twice). The order shows Refund needed until you refund it.
Products
SKU
Stock keeping unit: your own code for one variant, like KUR-M-IND (kurta, medium, indigo).
Set it in Inventory → SKU (Stock Keeping Unit).
Variant
One buyable version of a product, made from its options. A kurta with Size (S, M, L) and Colour (Indigo, Rust) has 6 variants, each with its own price, SKU and stock.
Collection
A group of products shown as one category page: Manual (you pick the products) or Automatic (products matching conditions, such as “Price is less than 999”).
MRP and compare-at price
The Compare at price on a product is shown struck through next to the real price, so shoppers see the saving. Most Indian stores use it for the MRP.
Landed cost
What a product really costs you once it is in your warehouse: the price you paid the supplier plus its share of freight, customs duty and clearing. IGST paid at customs is left out because you claim it back. See Purchase orders and landed cost.
Weighted average cost
The cost a product is shown at when you bought it at different prices. Each time you receive stock, the new cost is the average of what you had and what just arrived, weighted by quantity.
Inbound shipment
One container, air shipment or Bill of Entry that carries several purchase orders. Its freight and customs are shared across everything in it.
Online store
Theme
The design of your whole store: colours, fonts, and the sections on each page. One theme is Live; others wait in the theme library as Unpublished.
Section
One building block of a page, like a banner, a product grid or a testimonials strip. You add, move and style sections in the editor.
App block
A section that comes from an installed app, found in the editor’s Add panel on the Apps tab: Notify me (Back in stock), Delivery checker (Delhivery, Shiprocket) and Pre-order countdown (built in).
Template
The layout for one kind of page (home, product, collection, cart…). A product can use an alternate template for a different look.
