Checkout

Settings → Checkout decides what shoppers fill in when they order, when cash on delivery is offered, and how the checkout looks. Every rule is checked again on our side when the order is placed, so a shopper cannot get around it.

The page has two tabs: Checkout form (the rules below) and Branding (the look).

Your checkout is locked, like Shopify’s. Themes, imported themes and sections you build never change it, so it always works and always looks finished. You make it yours in Branding.

What this is for

  • Faster checkout with the PIN code first: city and state fill in by themselves.
  • GST invoices in a business buyer’s name, with their GSTIN on it.
  • Stopping small orders that cost more to ship than they earn.
  • Keeping big or risky orders off cash on delivery.

The settings

Contact details

A 10 digit Indian mobile number is always asked for, because couriers call it on delivery. Choose whether Email address is Required or Optional. With optional email, shoppers without one get updates on WhatsApp or SMS only.

Address

Ask for the PIN code first puts the PIN code at the top of the address. City and state then fill in from it, and the shopper can still change them. The page tells you if the PIN code lookup data is not installed on your server yet; until it is, shoppers type city and state themselves.

Minimum order value

Checkout will not place an order below this amount, counted after discounts and before shipping. Shoppers see how much more to add. Leave it at 0 for no minimum. Gift card orders are not counted.

Cash on delivery rules

These show only when cash on delivery is on in Settings → Payments.

  • Fee or discount: the same cash on delivery fee as in Settings → Payments. Change it in either place. A shipping rate can still set its own.
  • Largest order for cash on delivery: bigger orders, counted with shipping, must be paid online. Leave it at 0 for no limit.
  • PIN codes without cash on delivery: paste PIN codes, one per line or separated by commas, or upload a CSV file. Anything that is not a PIN code is left out and listed. Up to 5,000.
  • Confirm cash on delivery orders on WhatsApp: saves your choice for a WhatsApp confirmation step that is coming soon. It does nothing yet.

Branding

Open Settings → Checkout → Branding. A live preview sits beside the settings; switch it between Computer and Phone to see both. Nothing changes for shoppers until you press Save.

Look

  • Logo: shown at the top of the order summary. Without one, your theme’s logo is used, and without that, your store name.
  • Accent colour: focus rings, links and the payment or delivery option a shopper picks.
  • Pay button colour: the Pay button. Its text turns white or black by itself, whichever is easier to read.
  • Font: one font for the whole checkout, from a short list that loads fast (Inter, Figtree, Manrope, DM Sans, Plus Jakarta Sans, IBM Plex Sans).
  • Corners: sharp, soft or round fields and buttons.

Order summary background

The left side on a computer and the summary bar on a phone. Pick a Colour, or an Image with a soft wash of that colour over it so the text stays easy to read. The text colour on it turns light or dark by itself. If your store has dark mode on, shoppers who use it see a dark checkout with a hint of your colour.

Shown at checkout

  • Company name and GSTIN: an optional “Add a GSTIN for a business invoice” tick box with GSTIN and business name. A GSTIN with a typo is refused at checkout. The GSTIN and business name show on the order and on its GST invoice (GST invoices app), so the buyer can claim input tax credit.
  • Order notes: a note box under the payment options, for things like “Please call before delivery”. You see the note on the order page.
  • Trust line: “Secure checkout” and your ways to pay, under the Pay button.

The checkout shoppers get

  • On a computer: the order summary on the left (logo, the big amount, each item with its photo, discounts, gift cards, shipping, “Inclusive of all taxes”, and a pre-order balance or EMI line when they apply), and the steps on the right: Contact, Delivery, Delivery method, Payment, all on one page.
  • On a phone: a “Show order summary · ₹X” bar at the top, big fields, and the Pay button always at the bottom of the screen.
  • UPI first: a Pay with UPI button at the very top, and UPI first among the ways to pay. Cash on delivery comes last, when it is on.
  • Mistakes shown as they type: a wrong email, a short mobile number or a state that does not match the PIN code is pointed out under the field. Pressing Pay with something missing jumps to the first field to fix.
  • The exact amount on the button: “Pay ₹7,499”, or “Place order · ₹7,499” for cash on delivery.
  • Thank-you page in the same look: a calm tick, the order number, what happens next, the UPI QR or app buttons when payment is still due, and the order details.
